EINSTEIN'S DREAMS
EXPERIMENTAL TITLE SEQUENCE – 2024

THE
BRIEF
I was tasked to create a title sequence inspired by the book 'Eintein's Dreams' by Alan Lightman, through the exploration of original processes that resonate with the meaning and mood of the book to create a unique form of design and motion.

RATIONALE
Inspired by the book 'Einstein's Dreams' by Alan Lightman, this title sequence portrays the idea that time brings increasing order. In the book, it is said that Einstein is so focused on writing his theory, he begins seeing "shadows instead of people", which inspired the positive/negative compositions and design direction.
I also used a series of texturing techniques in After Effects that make the visuals appear hand-drawn or sketched–implying that they are part of Einstein’s notes.

SERENDIPITY
Early in the process, I challenged myself to take ordinary live footage and transform it into something grand. I was on the third floor of the Academic Building at 3:15 p.m. when I looked down and thought: What’s more ordinary than the day-to-day act of walking in and out of class? The pattern and visual rhythm created by students entering and exiting the building reminded me of a concept from the book—the flow of time and how chaos gradually gives way to order.
